Aufguss with Sander Bergene Johansen

December Aufguss with Sander (@Varmealkymisten) from Skien. Sander has been a sauna master since the summer of 2025 and has since taken part in several competitions, including a 4th place finish at Nordic Classics 2025. Aufguss is a German word meaning “to pour on”, and refers to a sauna ritual where water, ice and essential oils are poured over hot sauna stones to create steam and aromatic scents. The steam is then circulated through the sauna by the sauna master using a towel or fan. The experience lasts approximately 1,5 hours in total and is divided into several rounds, with good breaks in between. Please bring: Swimwear, two towels (one large towel to sit on and one for drying off), and a bottle of drinking water.
